Johnstone's Trade Acid Etch Solution is a surface pre-treatment for power floated and smooth concrete floors that should be used before painting. It improves adhesion prior to painting as long as the concrete surface is clean and degreased with a detergent wash or steam cleaning and rinsed with fresh water first (it is not recommended for use on case hardened concrete).

It is recommended that the Acid Etch Solution be applied with a soft brush, providing treatment coverage of approximately 20 square metres per litre, and that time be allowed for reaction before applying again.
